JH Roche J H Roche Selects MillMaster Again

J H Roche, based in Limerick is a significant manufacturer of animal feed. Established in 1879, this family-owned business has been run by four generations of Roches and is one of the largest mills in the Republic of Ireland, producing around 100,000 tonnes of animal feed annually.

A user of MillMaster since 1997, Roche’s have always been keen to get the most out of the software and have incorporated many changes since implementation, a sample of which are shown below.

• January 2002	Finished Product Batch Tracking implemented.
• September 2003	New automated packing system installed with on-line labelling from MillMaster.
• August 2004	Bulk Outloading implemented.
• June 2005	Packing system integration for improved batch traceability.
• August 2007	Weighbridge link implemented.
• October 2007	Integrity server installed.

Being a successful feed producer in this day and age requires you to be an astute commercial negotiator, and as you would expect, Managing Director, Bobby Roche drives a hard bargain. The new licence took some considerable negotiation including a round table meeting at VICTAM in May. However, the outcome was positive for both teams “we now look forward to another ten years working with J H Roche helping to maximize the benefits of MillMaster for their business”, said BMS MD, Richard. Now the new Integrity server is installed, the next stage is for the database to be converted to MySQL; Bobby will then be ready to start the Browser implementation. Bobby has for some time wanted to provide his sales staff out in the field with better information, and he sees this as a vital part of the Browser implementation. He has also invested in BIS (Business Information System) to give him a helicopter view of his business, showing in very clear terms how his sales teams are performing out on the road and also how his production team have been running the mill. We asked him to sum up how he sees his relationship with MillMaster and BMS: “I have worked with you guys for ten years now and MillMaster works for us, but animal feed is going through a tough time and I have to ensure that our investment in the software brings returns. I have to make sure it delivers for the business at all times. I am convinced MillMaster is the right product with a great team behind it”.
